Bulldozers, dozers and graders
Bulldozers do the heavy pushing on earthmoving and road projects, and motor graders finish the surface. We buy crawler dozers of different sizes, such as those in the D6 to D9 class, and motor graders used for road and site works. Brands include Caterpillar, Komatsu, Shantui, Dressta and others.
The undercarriage tells the story
On a dozer, the undercarriage is the largest wear item and often the largest repair cost. We examine the track chains, shoes, rollers, idlers, sprockets and the track tension. Measurements show how much life remains, and a machine with a fresh undercarriage can justify a better price. If you have recently replaced undercarriage parts, send the receipts.
Blades, rippers and attachments
Straight, semi-U and U blades, angle blades, single or multi-shank rippers and winches all change what the machine can do. Photograph the blade and its cutting edges, the tilt and lift cylinders and any ripper. State whether the machine is equipped with a cab, air conditioning and a canopy.
Engine and hydraulic checks
We check starting, smoke, noise, power, oil and coolant condition, the steering clutches or hydrostatic steering system, the transmission, hydraulic pump pressure and any leaks. For motor graders, we look at the moldboard, circle, articulation and the blade controls.
